IN A DRIFT OF PEARLS

My Collection of sculptural glass and cast metal has been inspired by contemporary short stories based on traditional fairy tales, in particular 'The Tigers Bride' by Angela Carter and the quote 'In a Drift of Fallen Pearls'. I have used dynamic forms that are created by squeezing and spreading colour in hot glass to try and capture the feelings of the oceans fluidity and colour.

Pewter has been moulded in to hollows within the glass to represent the reflective quality of sunlight falling on the pearls precious jewel like surface, thus creating distorted yet elegant forms that demonstrate the elegance and opulence of the subject matter producing precious objects that can be enjoyed individually or collectively.
