PULLEYS

This collection forms part of a collaborative project led by the Creative Consultant and writer Melody Vaughan.

 

The project is based around makers and tools. Six artists / crafts practitioners were asked to make a tool to represent their specialism, this was then sent to one of the six who then created a new piece of work in response to the tool they had received.

 

The tool I was sent is a ‘lily castrator’ and is used to remove the pollen stems from lilies to avoid staining when used in bouquets. I enjoyed looking at how the tool functioned and used this as the basis for producing a collection of small objects that echo the shape of pollen stems and have ‘pulled’ nodules to represent the action of the tool.
